Brady's New Nanny!

Austin & I have had a hard time finding help with Brady while I am at work and Austin is at school. In Omaha, the hospital I worked for had a daycare associated with it... which was wonderful. They were open nurse's hours, and only had to pay per hour.... unlike most daycares where you pay for the whole week.

This summer, Austin has been watching Brady while I work... since, ya know, he didn't have a job down here.
Well.... Austin started school a couple weeks ago and we had to put Brady back in daycare.... and pay a weekly rate because they don't offer hourly daycares down here. Brady lasted 2 days in daycare before we pulled him out. There is something not too comforting about picking up your baby 2 days in a row & him be laying on the ground crying his eyes out.... no crib for him... and them being over their baby-caretaker quota. It was awful.

So.... conveniently my little sister, Bridget, graduated from college in May, and spent 2 months riding her bike across the country.... and is now home.... JOBLESS! :) So, we jumped at the opportunity for her to watch Brady while I am at work & Austin is at school.... and while she tries to find a job.....
It is wonderful! She sends me pictures of Brady throughout the day.... which thrills me! It is my favorite part of work.... (actually the only part of work I like..... sneaking into the bathroom and looking at pictures of my baby boy....)

This is wonderful getting cute little pictures of my baby.... however.... except when she takes pictures of his dirty diapers.... she does not like to change them very much.... and makes sure to let me know whenever he goes...... (#2)
So..... we are super excited to have her as our Nanny.... is it bad that we secretly wish she never finds a job???

When to Quit Breastfeeding?

So today marks Brady's 6 month birthday.... and my 6 months of breastfeeding. Brady (and I) have been fortunate enough to have been exclusively breastfed. So, now the time comes when people are asking me more and more every day, "When are you going to quit breastfeeding?" This has got me contemplating the issue more and more..... if so many people are asking, then it MUST be about time to quit, right? Well... I asked my trusty Facebook friends and got TONS of responses on how long everyone plans on or did breastfeed their children. To my surprise, almost everyone breastfed for more than 6 months!

Here were my goals on breastfeeding:

Before Brady was born: "I'll give it a try, and if it works, great!"

Right after he was born: "I'll breastfeed for 3 months, then pump until I dry out."

At 3 months: "I'll keep going until he has teeth, then I'll HAVE to stop!"

Now (after teeth): "Teeth aren't too big of a deal, yet. (he only has 2). I'll keep going for a bit longer...."

So, as you can see.... my goals keep changing. This is good in some cases... but I am not sure if it is in THIS particular case.... you see.... I think I might end up like this lady:
